What is On-Page SEO?

SEO is a process used to send signals to search engines that are worth showing your pages in Google's index. Google uses some secret algorithms such as Panda, Penguin and Hummingbird to find out which site should rank first or second and so on. To get high rankings on search engines, we do SEO (search engine marketing). Google wants users to be happy when they visit your web page. For this, our website should be user friendly and useful.

On-page SEO is the practice of optimizing individual web pages to rank higher on the google and earn more relevant traffic in search engines. On-page refers to both the content of a page and the HTML source code that can be customized, as opposed to off-page SEO that refers to links and other external signals. On-Page optimization refers to the process of making your website appealing to both search engines and users. It reviews both the public face and visuals of your website and behind the coding and technical set-ups that only search engines see.

A search engine evaluates a website separately for a human visitor. A search engine cannot evaluate how well your website is designed, how well your content is written, or how much value your products / services provide. It involves judging the website from a technical point of view. On-site optimization is the foundation on which the off-site optimization process is built. Without it, off-site optimization efforts can be largely wasted. The process is extensive, and will vary slightly from website to website.

  • Sitemaps: Sitemaps should be included in the root directory of the site. This tells the crawler how many pages are present on the website, the final modification of the pages and the frequency of updating.
  • Canonical tag: This tag should be included in the HTML page that tells web robots that the URL contained in the canonical tag is a master copy so avoid duplicate problems due to multiple URLs.
  • Iframe Tags: Use iframe tags whenever you want resources from another website without creating duplicate content.
  • 301 and 302 redirection: 301 redirection is used when the domain changes permanently and when there are temporary changes to the website compared to 302 redirection.
  • 401 error and broken link: When a file is missing from the root directory or you type the wrong URL address, you will get 401 error and the link is called as broken link.
  • Breadcrumbs: are links that allow the user to track their way from the page they are currently viewing on the home page. They reflect the structure of the website. They are at the top of the webpage.
